Awkwardly Human

A friend of mine shared a personal story with me that gave me a seed for my short story Adverb. In the description of that story she used the phrase “awkwardly human,” which in turn planted the seed for this poem. These are the kinds of connections I live for. Thanks Christine!

Awkwardly Human

The beauty between the lines,
in grey areas of anticipation.

A potential friend or lover,
across a room that ignites a spark.

The disclosure of dark experiences,
and concessions of those shared.

Becoming who you want to be,
by admitting who you are not.
